Dameon is what is called a 'misfit', someone with mental abilities awoken by the taint of the Great White, a cataclysm caused by the Beforetimers in their quest for power. The Great White tainted the land, leaving most places uninhabitable, and causing many deformities in the people who lived there. Misfit 'powers' are a series of traits that are linked to particular patterns. Dameon is an Empath, which means he can sense peoples emotions if they are not blocked off to him, and he can also manipulate others emotions, although the Empath Guild (of which Dameon is the leader) have strict ethical codes surrounding the manipulation of non-gifted people.
He is tall and thin, tending towards lanky, and his eyes are a very pale blue, closer to white, as he has been blind from birth. Despite this disability, he moves with grace, and can sense the world around him through other people's emotional reactions to it.
Lastly, Dameon is from Isobelle Carmody's Obernewtyn series.
